Dr. Mary Hauser
Dr. Mary Hauser is a Florida native and was born and raised with her six sisters and three brothers in Deland, Florida.
She received her undergraduate degree in Biology at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida in 1998. While applying to veterinary medical school she worked at a mostly equine, part small animal practice in Tallahassee. She lived in the practice as the overnight emergency assistant to the veterinarians on call. She remembers that time as one of the most fun periods in her life and as the decisive factor in her admission into vet school.
She earned her DVM degree at the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. She has lived in Jupiter, Florida since her graduation in 2004.
From 2004 until 2012, she worked as a small animal general practitioner at Kindness Animal Hospital in Port St. Lucie, Florida. She will always remember those years fondly because she loved the patients she saw, their owners and the people she worked with.
However, she had to make a tough decision to purchase the practice in Port St. Lucie and move there or find a hospital closer to home.
Her husband, J.P. Hauser, is a Jupiter native and she immediately fell in love with the area when she moved here after graduation. She found that she could not make the move and decided that she needed to find work closer to her hometown.
She decided that she would take advantage of this period of transition to expand her abilities beyond what she had accumulated from eight years of general practice.
So in 2012, she went to work at Ft. Pierce Animal Emergency and Referral so that she could learn emergency medicine and surgery with 24 hour guidance from the specialists and experienced emergency doctors there. It was a tough year and a long commute but it was an invaluable education.
Once she had a year of experience of emergency medicine with the specialists, she began working at Jupiter Pet Emergency and Specialty Center so that she could get to know more about the practices closer to home and continue her education in emergency medicine and surgery.
Mary is very happy to be back in general practice so that she can once again build lasting relationships with her patients and clients. She loves to see the Jupiter Lighthouse as she drives to work (that is where she got married) and she could never imagine living away from the ocean. It has been a long road for her, from long commutes to living and working in the same place, but every step has been an adventure.
She lives with her husband and her three cats and one dog. Monkey, a calico kitty, has been with her since vet school. Valentine, a tabby, is a very old (no one knows how old) one-eyed kitty that ran up to her in a parking lot. Honey Badger, is a female, orange tabby that was brought home from work as a tiny newborn by her husband, JP. Lola is big, sweet, goofy, black Lab/Doberman mix that is still a puppy.
When she has free time, she enjoys paddle-boarding, swimming, reading, working on house-projects with her husband and traveling.
